While sitting in my quiet room
And nighttime chills the air
I wonder if you know for sure
How much I really care.

The minutes seem to pass so slow
While watching E-mail’s screen
I wonder if you’ll write to me
To say, my notes you’ve seen.

Our notes have crossed the Internet
And as our friendship grew
We’ve shared a laugh, a tear and more
And my love grew for you.

And then with heart out on my sleeve
I wrote you how I feel
And told you if I were with you
A kiss from you I’d steal.

But now I sit in darkened room
Afraid of what you’ll say
I worry I’ve offended you
And you’ll say, "Go away."

Then comes your name on lighted screen
Your e-mail comes to me
I hold my breath while opening
Afraid of what I’ll see.

But then a smile spreads o’er my face
Your words were just a few
I read them over several times
"Sweetheart, I love you too!"

A Quiet Room
