Stay the Knight

I am on guard out side her walls
I'm one of many Knights.
Protecting her from harm or foul
And also guard her rights.

I wear the armor of my faith
And weild the sword of truth.
I'll fight till I am old and gray
As I fought in my youth.

Although my watch seems cold and long
I know my quest is true;
And I'll be firm and "stay the course"
And do what I must do.

Then suddenly this lonely Knight
Could hear the opening gate.
Content to do my guarding chores
Resolved as to my fate.

But then her carriage stops beside
The every watchful Knight
And quickened is my heart rate
As I see this lovely sight.

Her eyes meet mine, I see her smile
And then her words I hear
"I thank you Knight, for guarding me"
My heart wanted to cheer.

Then with her nod, the coachman drove
As she went on her way,
And honored was I as she left
This was a special day.

Once more I stand alone, on guard
I gladly do my part,
For with the smile and words, she has
Renewed my loving heart.
