While morning's chill still fills the air
And darkness rules the day.
I watch the night give way to dawn
For light must have its way.
Then spreading out in colored rays
The dark gives way to light,
And purple blends into a pink
How beautiful the sight.
As minutes pass and pink transforms
Into the orange dawn;
The day begins to come alive
While night is almost gone.
And then the orange ball peaks o're
The distant mountain's rim.
The brilliance of the rising sun
Spreads light where once was dim.
I marvel at this brand new day
And with a happy heart;
I am renewed to see the way
This lovely day will start.
