Guiding Light

While tossed about by stormy sea
And darkness fills the night,
The massiveness of crashing waves
Is all that fills my sight.

I feel so helpless as I try
To safely guide the ship.
I work with hands upon the helm
And pray for strengthened grip.

Then as I worry, all is lost
And land is hid from sight,
I chance to see the glimmer of
A distant point of light.

And now as hope regains it's strength
With light to guide my way.
I have a course to steer my ship
And on that course I'll stay.

The lighthouse surely saved my life
Like many saved before.
This guiding light so shines for us
And guides us back to shore.
