Works of Love

With gentle hands, he pets the wood
These treasured boards by which he stood
Selecting one with which to make
A treasure box or some keepsake.

Then with his chosen wood he stands
He cuts and forms it with his hands
To show the beauty of the grain
Sometimes enhancing with a stain

And then with finish once applied
With all his efforts he has tried
To do the best that he could do
To make a special gift for you.

Now that this gift, by hand he made
Its quality of highest grade.
Is placed in hands, with love he gives
Will last beyond the years he lives.

And then again with loving eyes,
A tear of joy that now he cries.
Accepted are the workings of
This granddad, and his works of love
