She Will Prevail

Yes, sorrow gripped her broken heart
No words were left to say.
The one she loved had hurt her so
And now had gone away.

She gave her heart, her life to him
They promised to be true.
And life seemed oh so perfect
While the skies of life were blue.

But then as time and life passed by
And blue skies turned to gray,
And even as the darkness came
She thought that he would stay.

She never thought he'd run away
Or look for someone new,
But disappointment was in store,
In spite of all she'd do.

And while she stands in tortured pain
Betrayed in lover's vow,
Tormented by the questions of
Just what went wrong and how.

But then a true friend came to help
And calmed her troubled heart
This friend expressed how good she was
And that she'd done her part.

And then she realized her strength
And who had been the fool.
She knew that she had made straight A's
While he had flunked life's school.

Now reassured of her great worth,
Now that the fool was gone,
She lifts her head and smiles with pride
As Queen, not as the pawn.

Now as her mending heart grows strong
She knows she did not fail,
And better will her life become
Because She Will Prevail.
