Wilderness

I’ve been out in the wilderness
Where trees and ferns will grow.
I’ve been there in the rain and sun,
And even in the snow.

I’ve marveled at the living things,
I’ve seen upon the ground,
And been so pleasantly surprised
With all that I have found.

I’ve seen the squirrels and the deer,
The mushrooms and the birds.
I’ve listened to the falling leaves
And all the things I’ve heard.

I’ve been so totally amazed
With all the beauty there
And as I thought of what I’ve seen
I’ll try with words to share.

Now if you ever have the chance,
This wilderness to see,
I know you’ll love the forest there
And want to share like me.

Some day I may just have the choice
To live among the trees
And so, till then I’ll spend some time
In prayer, down on my knees.
