Dad

All the fancy cards are gone
All the gifts been handed out
But what our fathers really want
Is something they can’t live without

It’s not made of precious metal
It’s not a big or really cool
It’s something pure and simple
Much like a cherished craftsman tool

This little thing he wants
Is never on a shelf
Some men will search for years
They bother not to ask for help

As a dad get’s older
It’s cherished even more
When he is out on an adventure
This is what he’s thankful for

It was given long ago
Sometimes a tiny wasted thing
But to some it’s truly special
To have it some can only dream

When you finally retire
It’s often grown to be
The greatest gift on father’s day
A loving family
