I have a jar up on my shelf
It’s full as full can be.
It sits beside some other jars,
When counted, number three.
These jars are filled with pennies and
I doubt I’ll cash them in.
I think I’ll start another jar;
To stop, would be a sin.
You see the value in the jars
Is not their cash amount;
Though pennies can be used to buy,
When they are counted out.
But when you know each penny’s worth
And what they represent,
You’ll know the value in each jar,
And why it can’t be spent.
You see each penny in the jars
I’ve saved up on the shelf,
Is there because I had a thought
I value more than wealth.
Each penny represents a thought,
Each thought is clear and true.
The pennies are the symbols of,
The times I’ve thought of you.
