Chosen Words

How blessed we are to have this day,
Another day to live,
A day in which we get to choose,
Which part of us to give.

Some little things we choose to give,
May be a smile or frown,
And possibly we’ll lift someone,
Or maybe push them down.

We each have those abilities,
To love or push away,
And usually the choice we make
Will show in words we say.

And so as council comes to me,
I share these thoughts with you,
That I will give more careful thought
To words I choose to use.

Then hopefully the things I say,
Each day I live on earth,
Will bless the lives of those I meet
And be of goodly worth.

You see, we have those qualities,
Like angels from above,
To be a blessing to someone,
Someone who needs our love.
